step 6: make your site searchable

The aim of this step is to enter in four keywords that will enable your site to be searched from the sites page, and a site title that your site can be searched with too.

The reason that keywords and a site title must be included is because the search page has no categories, but works using the following searches:

If you don't enter in your 4 keywords and your site title, the user can only search for your site using either your first name or school name, which means your site probably won't get found that often!!

writing your 4 keywords

  1. Place your cursor in the field labelled "1"
    2. put the cursor in the first keyword field
  2. enter in a single keyword using no spaces:
      entering in the first keyword
    • to help you come up with the right keywords, think of the main things that your site is about, or the main things you talk about in your site.
    • For example, if your site is about music, you could put the main bands to talk about in your site, as well as the word "music" so your site will be listed either if people search for the bands, or put in the keyword "music"
  3. Once you have entered the first keyword in, continue to enter single keywords in the remaining four boxes. entering in all 4 keywords
    • If you want to change a keyword:
    • put your cursor in the box of the keyword you wish to change
    • left-click and drag with the mouse to select the word
    • press delete on your keyboard to delete the word
    • enter in the new keyword
  4. Once you have entered keywords in all four boxes and are happy with them, you are ready to enter in your site title

writing your site title

  1. Place your cursor in the field labelled "site title"
    2. palce your cursor in the site title field
  2. Enter in the title of your site. This should be the same name that you have put on your site banner entering in your site title
    • If you want to change your site title:
    • put your cursor in "site title" box
    • left-click and drag with the mouse to select the word
    • press delete on your keyboard to delete the word
    • enter in the new site title
  3. Once you are happy with both your keywords, press the finish button to go to the next step
